EAvision J100 and J150 Intelligent Battery Design
EAvision batteries for the J100 and J150 have proven performance in hot conditions. They both incorporate design features to reduce heat build-up and maximise cooling efficiency.
The cooling of the battery relies on the use of maximum airflow in both charging and whilst in operation. EAvision has applied its extensive in-field experience to the design of the battery from the ground up. With an industry-first design, the battery box allows for airflow around each individual cell.
During flight, the forward movement of the drone, combined with prop wash, ensures that each cell if supplied with airflow to disperse heat and avoid heat build-up.
The same concept is used for charging. The chargers for both the J100 and J150 incorporate high airflow fans that direct airflow directly over the battery cells.
The second performance design is the battery and drone terminal.
The positive and negative terminals are separated and located at each end of the battery. This allows for both a larger terminal surface area design and also more terminal space for larger power wiring. As a result, electrical resistance is reduced, leading to a reduction in heat build-up during high current applications.
The heat of the Battery Directly impacts performance.
Excess heat of the battery affects performance in two ways.
- High heat increases resistance, which means that the battery has to work harder to deliver the required output.
- The charger has built-in protections. It will automatically reduce or stop charging batteries that are too hot. This can slow charging time and therefore lead to either less flights or the need to carry extra batteries.
Superior Design Leads to results.
We recently had the opportunity to get a direct comparison with some other popular drones on the market via a hover test. Hover tests are not a great indication of flight time due to the extra work required to hover, but they allow for a good comparison.
The T50 and J100 have similarly sized batteries. (In fact, the T50 battery is slightly bigger) The J100 outperformed by 10% – 15%.
The J150 battery is 10% bigger than the T100 and yet the performance is 30% better.
We also did a field test with over 40 consecutive flights with just 3 batteries and 1 charger.
Look after your batteries, so that they look after you.
Batteries are an integral part of your overall drone operation. Efficiency is determined by the number of flights you can achieve in a day, the length of the flight time, and the charge speed. There is also a safety aspect. It is very rare, but there have been reports by operators of some types of drones experiencing mid-flight failures and battery fires.
… and let’s not forget that they are not cheap.

Daily Care – Best Practice
– Store and transport your batteries in a cool, ventilated location.
– Use foam padding around battery during transport to minimise vibrations
– Avoid dropping the battery. This includes into both the drone and charger
– Keep batteries out of direct sunlight during charging
– Ensure the battery is off before installing and removing it from the drone and charger
– Ensure that you check the voltage levels of each cell regularly.
– Follow the maintenance guidelines at the required intervals.
Maintenance Recommendations.
The manufacturer recommends battery maintenance on each flight day, plus a more detailed service at 300 flight intervals.
Daily:
– Ensure terminals are in good condition and free from residue.
– Use contact cleaner for daily maintenance.
300 Flight Cycles:
– Detailed inspection of all terminals.
– Replace terminals with signs of damage.
– Follow the maintenance manual for the deep cleaning process
